It all began one summer, when life felt limitless. No, wait. Before we explain who we are, perhaps we’re best starting with who we’re not. We’re not a conventional fashion brand. We don’t do ‘collections’ that are cool for exactly one season – then yesterday’s news when leaves start to change colour on trees. In fact, we don’t do collections full stop. Our products are a brutal edit of design-based tops – tees, hoodies, jumpers – inspired singularly by Japanese philosophy and pop-culture, and made as beautifully as they can be.
Now, back to that life-changing summer. It was a visit to Tokyo – my first – that redefined my understanding of purity. A gradual immersion in the Japanese way of life spawned an admiration and profound regard for how everyday things could be simultaneously simple and complex, chaotic and serene, loud and a whisper – and yet always, always, so beautiful and pure. It’s an aesthetic narrative and creative approach like no other on earth. It influences not just how things look, but how they are made, and their very reason for being.
